On January 5, 2016 a 10-year-old boy named Ryder was celebrating his birthday on the beach. He spotted a bottle buried in the sand and dug it out eagerly. Ryder hoped for a treasure map, but found something just as exciting. An actual message in a bottle.
It read: “Hi my name is Chris. I am 10 years old and in the 5th grade. I live in Sacramento. Call me when you find this to let me know where it washed ashore.
September 5, 1988”
After all these years, Chris’ note was finally found. But who was Chris?
Ryder’s mom contacted Inside Edition and they jumped at this intriguing story. They called the number on Chris’ note, but it was disconnected. The trail quickly went cold.
Inside Edition asked for help. They wanted to find the boy who wrote this note, and started a #FindChris hashtag to spread the word. John, an Investigator from Intellaegis, stepped up to the challenge.
John hit several dead ends, but knew exactly where to turn. He contacted Rob Miller, Founder and CEO of PeopleFinders.com.
Mr. Miller ran a Reverse Phone Lookup and found useful information in minutes. Even though the phone number was nearly 3 decades old, PeopleFinders made it easy to go through historical records and find Chris today.
Inside Edition ran a follow up to this amazing story. We’re thrilled to know that the #FindChris campaign may lead to wonderful new friendships and a long overdue reunion between Chris and his mother.
You may never find an old message in a bottle, but if you ever need to learn who owns a phone number or locate someone from your past, you’ll find all the answers instantly at PeopleFinders.com.
