Find People From Your Summer Vacation

connecting with your vacation friends

The kids are out of school. The weather is beautiful. And many travel sites run summer specials designed to help you get the perfect vacation at the perfect price.

On your vacation, you may make some new friends. Maybe they’re your neighbors at a resort or someone you met at an event. Or perhaps they are just a fun-loving person you met while out and about. Either way, it’s common to want to get back in touch with the person after you get back home.

Fortunately, you can find those vacation friends easily if you want to reconnect and try to start up a long-lasting friendship.

Try Social Media

If you do have the person’s name, this is the easiest way to find him or her. Do you only have a first name? It can still be amazing what you could find with just a couple of clicks. Do some searching for the name and the location you were in, especially on social media sites such as Facebook.

Try checking for pictures and images geotagged with the location where you met the other person. And don’t forget to look through as many social media sites as possible, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Even if you only have a first name, social media can lead you to who you’re looking for quickly. Just make sure you constantly revise your search to make it more accurate.

Browse Travel Review Sites

This can be a bit of a long shot. And you might only want to try it if you feel like you’re at a dead end. However, your vacation friend could be the type of person who loves travel. If so, he or she may pop-up on travel review sites, ready to share the experience. The first thing to check, of course, is the venue where you met, especially if it’s a hotel, resort, or other high-profile location.

If you don’t find anything promising at the actual location where you met, it might be time to bring out your sleuthing skills. Find out where the hottest spots in that town are, especially for tourists, and then browse reviews there. Who knows; you may unintentionally run into the person.

Use a People Search Site

If you know your vacation friends’ names, you can perform a people search to find contact options and other general information. Input a first and last name and, if you know it, the city and state. If you’re not sure where they live, try the place where you met; they could be locals. If you don’t get what you’re looking for, try different cities and states, including anywhere that you remember them mentioning.

Another important thing to consider before reaching out to a vacation friend is if they could be hiding a dangerous past. Instead of waiting to find out, use the same people search site to perform a criminal records search before you try to reconnect.

When you perform a criminal records search, you may be able to get a full list of criminal records, including things like arrest records, convictions, and sex offender data. Whether you’ve developed a romantic interest or you merely want to hang out with your vacation pal, a criminal records search is a great way to try and keep yourself safe.

Don’t Give Up

It’s not always easy to find someone you met while on a vacation. Especially if all you have is a first name and the place you met, it can be a daunting task to turn that info into a valid way to find and contact the person. However, even basic information, such as a first and last name, can allow you to find the person you want.

You can turn the most basic of data into useful contact information. While it’s better if you have information from social media sites or other lines of contact, a people search site may still work just as well with just a few pieces.
