Do You Share A Name With A Celebrity?

June 25th, 2015

Celebrity names

We all know their names. Actors, athletes, musicians and others who dominate our pop culture. Sometimes just the mention of a celebrity can generate instant excitement.

Even though many of these personalities do not have unique names, when they are mentioned we all tend to think of the same person.

That made us wonder – how many people have the same moniker as some of the most well-known stars? Just for fun, we ran people searches on PeopleFinders.com to find out.

Do You Share A Name With A Celebrity

We started our game with a few names did not expect find.

Most people have heard of Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Dr. Dre. And single-name celebrities like Madonna, Prince and Rhianna. You won’t find others who share those monikers.

We had some fun running these searches (and you never know what you might find while searching), but it was soon time to move on to more realistic choices.

We Found A Few People With These Celebrity Names

Several of the names we picked produced fewer than 10 results. Celebrity talk show hosts like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Ryan Seacrest only had a few “namealikes.”

We found 9 listings for Matthew McConaughey. Which led to the realization that if they all said “All right” just once, they could recreate McConaughey’s famous catchphrase 3 times.

6 people shared Simon Cowell’s name. 2 could rightfully claim to be Meryl Streep. Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Lena Dunham had 3 “doppelnamers” each.

A Few More Folks Shared These Celebrity Names

Next we found some celebrities with more common names.

There were between 10 and 14 people who had the same handle as Floyd Mayweather, Jennifer Aniston and Natalie Portman. It was no surprise to discover 18 individuals called Steven Spielberg, but we didn’t expect to find as many as 20 people named Beyonce Knowles.

Angelina Jolie had 17 matches. Her hubby Brad Pitt drew 40. But we were looking for even more.

Celebrities With Very Common Names

When certain names are mentioned, most of us think about a specific individual. Often it’s one celebrity who could almost be seen as the “spokesperson” for folks with that designation. For example, we found numerous people named Jon Stewart, but when you hear or read that name you probably picture the well-known host of The Daily Show.

Many celebrity names yielded a large number of results. “The Rock” wouldn’t work, but when we searched for Dwayne Johnson we found an abundance of people. Same thing happened with searches for Bradley Cooper, Jon Hamm, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney and many others.

Do you have the same signature as a famous person? Ever wonder how many people have the same mark as you?
