An 8-Year-Old Takes The Wheel And Saves The Day!
Young Dillon Earl was riding in his grandmother’s truck early one Sunday morning. The pair were on their way to church when Dillon’s grandmother suffered a seizure while behind the wheel. At the time they were travelling at about 70 miles per hour.
Although Dillion was immediately concerned, he remained perfectly calm. He’d seen his grandmother endure a seizure before, and understood the telltale signs of her shaking. Dillon didn’t hesitate.
The young boy grabbed the steering wheel and took control. Somehow he managed to pull the truck off to the side of the road, maneuver his foot onto the brake pedal and bring the vehicle to a safe stop. Witnesses estimate the boy was driving the pickup for at least one full mile.
Other drivers who saw the incident stopped and dialed 911. Paramedics quickly arrived on the scene and found Dillon happily playing while his grandmother sat quietly in the driver’s seat. Both were doing just fine.
Dillon’s fast actions may have saved several lives that day. If he had not taken the wheel, the truck could easily have struck another vehicle. Even so, he remains unruffled by the event. He says that he has practiced steering and braking many times to be prepared for just this type of scenario, and doesn’t think the incident was a big deal.
The Earl family is very proud of Dillon and his life-saving accomplishment. At PeopleFinders, we applaud his remarkable efforts. We’re grateful that his fast thinking and amazing reflexes brought a happy ending to this remarkable story.
