America was forged by people who believed that anything was possible, and just kept working until they succeeded. That conviction still permeates the country today. There is no obstacle too big for us to overcome, no goal we cannot achieve and no destination we will not reach if we set our minds to it. We stand together, toil together and triumph together.
The fourth of July is a day when we all stop to think about the remarkable past of our nation, and the brighter future we build each day.
We Demand Our Independence
On July 4th, 1776 the men who would later be known as our Founding Fathers approved the most important document in American history: the Declaration of Independence. Their goal was to proclaim that the 13 colonies which made up the country at the time were United and Free.
The Declaration of Independence affirmed that all men are created equal and endowed with unalienable rights including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. From the moment these stirring words were first read in public, they were met with jubilant approval. This is what America stood for then, and what we stand for now. Freedom, equality and justice.
56 members of the Congressional Congress signed copies of the Declaration. John Hancock, the Congressional President, signed with an extra large flourish. Many people believe this was done to ensure his name would be recognized immediately. That gesture embodies the American spirit: we do not meekly request our freedoms, we demand them courageously.
We Celebrate Our Independence
Ever since that unforgettable day in 1776, July 4th has been acknowledged as a time to celebrate freedom in America. In 1941 it was officially recognized as a national holiday. On the Fourth of July, Americans everywhere will celebrate while attending parades, barbecues and inspiring fireworks displays. We will also take a moment to remember.
We will remember the brave pioneers who founded our country, the remarkable heroes who defended our way of life, and all those who came before us to help give us the lives we enjoy today. At PeopleFinders, we are proud to be part of that American spirit. We are dedicated to helping you find anyone, anywhere in the United States because we believe in the power of people. We’re here to help you find and connect with the individuals who continue to make this the greatest country in the world.
