Facebook is in the spotlight for its impressive growth, and Twitter for a message that only had a short lifespan.

Facebook has more registered users than some countries have people. Their latest statistics show that the website is catching up with the populace of the United States. According to the most recent Census, the U.S. currently has 305,529,237 residents. The “population” of Facebook isn’t far behind – they now have just over 300 million users.

Last July Facebook reported 250 million users, so this is a very impressive jump in numbers over a short period of time. The company is constantly looking for creative ways to attract even more people. They recently launched Facebook Lite, a toned down version of Facebook that they claim is a “faster, simpler way to keep in touch with your friends”. Facebook also has several projects in the works, including a voice chat application, to delight social networkers.

It’s working. Although the site has been wildly popular, it has not been profitable. That changed during their last quarter; for the first time ever, Facebook made a profit. This is causing people to view the future of the company in a different light. Until recently there has been a great deal of speculation that Facebook would be sold to a large competitor, but now people are thinking the social networking site is in it for the long run.

Twitter gets talked about a lot, but a few recent Tweets have really caught the attention of the nation. These Tweets came from employees of ABC News who overheard a comment made by President Barack Obama while his guard was down.

President Obama was talking with CNBC employees before an interview, and several ABC staff members who share the workspace were nearby. The subject of Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards came up, and Obama said that his actions were inappropriate. When someone asked why Kanye would do that, Obama replied “He’s a jacka**”.

Obama’s statement was met with laughter, and he asked that it be kept within the room. His request was denied, however, when more than one ABC employee Tweeted about what the President said. ABC officials had the messages removed, but by then they had been seen by a large number of people and were already being Re-Tweeted by those who approved and disapproved of the President’s comment.

This incident reopens a recent discussion about what people who work at nationally recognized companies can and cannot post on their social profiles. Representatives of ABC felt it was wrong for their employees to post a comment Obama made privately, and this could lead to a new set of rules that people must follow when using social networks. In the meantime Obama’s remarks will fall under intense scrutiny all across the globe.

At PeopleFinders.com we understand that social networking sites are popular because people everywhere want to stay connected. That’s why we’re dedicated to helping you find people anywhere, so you can reunite with long lost friends and family.

You can find almost anything on the Internet, but where do you go to do a web search? Google has been the dominant search engine for years, and sites like Yahoo or Bing are also popular options. These days, however, a lot of people are looking for a more personalized approach to finding information online.

One of the benefits of using a major search engine is that you’ll get hundreds of results for almost any topic. Even if you’re looking for something that is relatively obscure, chances are good you’ll find a large number of websites dedicated to that subject. While a long list of sites is very useful, sometimes it’s not quite what people are looking for.

Searching the web for information about products, attractions and services is becoming more of a community-based experience for many consumers. People are turning to sites where they can read advice and opinions from others who have already purchased or tried something that they’re interested in. For example, if you’re looking for a restaurant you may prefer to visit Yelp.com to find one that several diners have recommended instead of doing a standard engine search that would only provide you with a list of places where you could eat. A Google search may show you all the restaurants in a particular area, but other sites can actually help you decide which one you want based on reviews from people who have eaten there.

Internet-users are helping each other make better decisions about places to go, products to buy, or things to do. Looking for a good movie? Then a site that provides a directory of everything currently playing may not be as useful as Rotten Tomatoes, where individuals can give their opinions about any film. If you’re interested in a particular product, you could be inclined to visit Amazon.com or ConsumerReview.com to see which brands have received positive or negative commentaries from the public. You can even find out which hotels other travelers preferred at TravelPost.com.

Another way people are fine-tuning their online search process is by using Social Networking sites to ask for opinions from friends and family. You can post blogs, bulletins and comments requesting feedback on any subject from a group of people you actually know. It gives the experience a more personal touch, and helps you make a more educated decision.

Does this mean large search engine sites are destined to become extinct? Certainly not – the type of website you’ll use to look for information will depend on exactly what you’re hoping to find. If you’re researching a specific topic, a list of sites that cover your theme is exactly what you need. Many sites like Google, Yahoo and Bing are also regularly adding new features to help you personalize your search results, and give you exactly what you’re looking for.

At PeopleFinders.com we’re dedicated to helping you find and connect with other people, and providing you with the facts you need to make informed decisions. You can turn to us to learn more about the folks who share information with you on consumer review sites, find people you haven’t seen in years and stay connected with your friends and family. Make your web surfing experience as personal as you like it, and thank you for reading the PeopleFinders.com People Search blog.

There are many reasons you may need to learn more about someone’s past, and the best way to do it is with a Comprehensive Background Check. You might need information about an individual you’re going into business with, inviting into your home or just spending time with personally. Whatever your reason, a Background Report gives you all the facts you need to make a well informed decision about anyone.

Background Checks provide you with a large amount of useful information. They contain basic details such as complete names, addresses, phone numbers and ages. You can also find out if someone has gone through bankruptcy, had a tax lien or other civil judgment issued against them, owns property or holds a professional business license. People also use Background Checks to see if someone is married or divorced, and to find out if they have active profiles on social networking sites. Your report will even tell you if the person has AKA’s, aliases or criminal records on file.

Name Search
It’s easy to order a Background Check, and the most common way to get started is with a Search by Name. This lets you type in a first and last name, and you can include a city and state to get the best results possible. Fill in the details, click the ‘Search’ button and you’ll see a results page that shows everyone who matches your criteria. Review each one until you find the right person and click the ‘View Details’ button underneath their name. Next you can order the Background Report only, or add our beneficial Identity Protection service to help protect your personal credit rating and get 20% off! Complete your order to receive the most thorough Background Check available anywhere.

More Options
You might not know the last name of someone you want to learn more about, so we offer a variety of search alternatives to help you find the right person. You can search using an Address, even if it’s out of date, or try an Advanced Search which lets you enter additional facts to narrow down your results. If you know all the digits, you can also try a Phone Number Search, or even a Social Security Number Search. Use the option that’s best for you, or email our Customer Care Team if you have additional questions.

Whether you want to know more about a person’s past to make sure your interests are protected, find out if they are someone you want to deal with professionally or protect your loved ones, a Background Check helps you get the complete story on anyone and make well informed decisions. Get the facts you need, and thank you for reading the PeopleFinders.com People Search blog.
