It’s been a tumultuous year. Sometimes it seems like there is nothing but bad news everywhere you look. We’ve all faced so many difficult moments.

2010 also had plenty of highlights. We saw positive stories full of joy and hope. Inspiring tales that made us smile. Here are some of our favorite moments from the year.

This note let the world know that all 33 miners were alive and well.

The rescues were astonishing. 33 men were elevated from nearly half a mile beneath the Earth’s surface. They spent 69 days underground, and doctors were concerned about their mental and physical health.

All of the men appeared to be well, and in good spirits. They hugged loved ones, thanked rescue workers and waved to well-wishers before being whisked away to a nearby medical facility. The tale of these brave men, however, is far from over.

Rescuing The Chilean Miners

It’s been a massive undertaking. Hundreds of experts discussed, devised and designed a plan to free 33 miners who have been trapped in an underground mine since Thursday, August 5.
