Can Facebook Out-Awesome Google Plus?

Google has had a lot of Buzz since announcing their latest social networking concept, Google Plus. Of course no one expected Facebook to just ignore it.

Last week Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg told the world that he would make an announcement on Wednesday, July 6. He didn’t give many details, other than to say it was about the launch of “something awesome.”

Facebook has more registered users than some countries have people. Their latest statistics show that the website is catching up with the populace of the United States. According to the most recent Census, the U.S. currently has 305,529,237 residents. The “population” of Facebook isn’t far behind – they now have just over 300 million users.

MySpace Vs. Facebook
In the struggle to grab and keep the attention of the American public, MySpace and Facebook remain the 2 biggest warriors on the scene. MySpace had been the top dog of the social networking community, but in the last year Facebook closed the gap and gained an impressive lead. According to an analysis by The Nielsen Company, Facebook is now the #1 social network in the U.S., although MySpace still outranks them in one category. Nielsen statistics show that MySpace is around 3 times more popular than Facebook for online videos. (more…)
