It’s been an incredible year for all of us at PeopleFinders, and we hope 2009 was a prosperous and joyful time for you. A lot has happened since we launched this blog on May 29, 2009.
We’ve seen so many amazing events unfold over the year. We shared a collective feeling of bereavement at the loss of celebrities like Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett and Patrick Swayze. These beloved entertainers brought so much joy into our lives, and their unfortunate passing reminds of us how important it is to hold the people that we care about close. We are constantly reminded of just how unpredictable life can be.

The holiday season is in full swing! December is one of the busiest months of the year – with extra shopping, decorating and socializing – so it’s a good time to take a moment and focus on holiday safety.
Holiday Shopping
Gift giving is fun and rewarding, but holiday shopping can hold several hazards. Here are a few tips to help give you a safer experience:
• Take a friend with you – there is always safety in numbers
• Never leave valuables where they can be seen in your car
• Keep your keys in your hand when walking to your vehicle; get in quickly and lock the doors right away

On Friday, December 18, People magazine releases their “25 Most Intriguing of 2009” issue. The list of 25 celebrities and newsmakers that People believes made the biggest impact this year is topped by Taylor Swift, the young musician who made a major splash at the Grammys this year.
People’s list contains more than 25 intriguing individuals – some people were listed as couples (like Barack and Michelle Obama), and others were clumped into larger groups (like the Kardashian sisters). Every winner was given their own title, such as “The Power Pair” for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, or “The Departing Diva” for Oprah Winfrey.

December is filled with reasons to celebrate; from the well-know holidays like Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa to the more unusual events like Oatmeal Muffin Day and Wear A Plunger On Your Head Day (we’re not 100% sure what that one is all about, but to each his own). Everywhere you look you see lights, decorations and people out shopping for gifts that they hope will bring joy to their friends and family members.
At PeopleFinders, we love the feelings of community and sharing that accompany each December. During the holiday season people devote a little more time to simply being with relatives and friends, something we encourage all year long! To help get into the holiday spirit we thought we’d mention a few of the lesser-known reasons to celebrate this December:

It’s a law that is only recognized in seven states, but it may cause unhappily married couples to think twice before engaging in an affair. A person who suffers from the pain of an unfaithful husband or wife may be eligible to file an “Alienation Of Affection” lawsuit – against their spouse’s lover.
This concept has recently received new attention due to some well-publicized scandals, most notably the Tiger Woods saga. The number of women who claim to have had an affair with Tiger seems to grow daily, and if any of these trysts occurred in Hawaii, Illinois, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina or Utah, then Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren, could file a lawsuit.

Tiger Woods has been a celebrated golfer, athlete and even hero, but recently his name is most often followed by the word scandal. In just a few days, Tiger’s fans have gone from discussing his golfing prowess to talking about his personal life.
It began with a story in the National Enquirer that claimed Tiger was having an affair with a nightclub hostess named Rachel Uchitel. She denied this accusation and insisted that any connection between them is purely coincidental. Rumors about this alleged affair raged for two days, until another Tiger related item took the spotlight.

The USS Arizona after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
December 7, 1941. This date was permanently burned into the memory of an entire generation, and more than 65 years later it still holds as one of the most notorious dates in American history.
It was the day of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and a day that changed the world forever. Just before 8a.m. that morning, a group of Japanese planes approached the unsuspecting naval base. They arrived without warning, and without a formal declaration of war.
