On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. He addressed a crowd of more than 250,000 people, and implored his listeners to rally for civility, understanding and basic human rights.

His dream was worth sharing. 48 years later, we still celebrate Dr. King’s iconic message.

Look back on your life. How many relationships have been hurt or destroyed by misunderstandings and arguments? For most of us, even one is too many.

We all have issues with other people from time to time. It’s human nature. But sometimes even minor disagreements are allowed to fester for years. They can ruin great relationships and tear loved ones apart. If we really look inside ourselves and ask which is more important – being “right” or saving the relationship – then we’ll probably want to fix things fast.

Happy Flag Day, America

The American Flag. It’s more than the symbol of our country. It’s the symbol of our pride, our personality, our unity.

Old Glory was adopted as the official flag of the United States on June 14, 1777. Today, the stars and stripes fly just as bravely and boldly as ever. The flag represents us; the American people. And today we can proudly stand beneath our flag and salute more than 200 years of freedom.

June is National Safety Month – and time for the annual Safetyville Health and Safety Expo.

Safetyville USA is a replica of a city built in 1/3 scale to give young people a personalized view of the world around them. Tour guides accompany children through the park and offer safety tips about electricity, fire, bicycling, vehicles and other potential hazards. The park has been a Sacramento landmark since 1984.

Jennifer Darmon is a determined woman. She set out to do something millions of women have done before: walk down the aisle on her wedding day. But Jennifer had a major obstacle to overcome. She has been paralyzed since 2008.
