International Day of the Disappeared

The International Day of the Disappeared was started with the hope of finding those lost in war, conflict, violence or no known cause. In many cases, those missing are military personnel, though they may also be civilian victims of the war as well. This annual day of remembrance held on August 30th highlights the struggles of loved ones, and recognizes the importance of finding and bringing home the missing. Volunteers and others devoted to the cause have made it a point to offer services in many countries of the world.

A recent study revealed that most people have some pretty significant regrets. Of course. We all have things form our past that we wish we could change.

This study produced a list of Top Ten regrets. It didn’t hold many surprises. Though we come from wildly different backgrounds, we all share common experiences.

The study concluded that most people spend at least 45 minutes dwelling on their personal regrets every week. No surprise there, either. We can’t help thinking about things that went wrong in the past, and inadvertently torturing ourselves by pondering what we should have done differently.

Number 6 on the list of regrets really caught our attention. It’s something that many of us at PeopleFinders think about each day:

Freedom of Information Day

March 16 is National Freedom of Information Day. It’s a celebration of the Freedom of Information Act that was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966.

The Freedom of Information Act grants Americans the right to easily access information from and about the Federal Government. This law states that every person has the right to review federal records, unless those records are legally protected from public disclosure.
