It’s been one week since the senseless tragedy in Aurora, Colorado. Over the last few days we’ve heard horrifying details about an event we will never understand. We’ve listened, watched and grieved together.

When we hear a distressing story, our first thought is often: “Why?” We want the world we live in to make sense, but sometimes it just won’t. Stories like this hurt and terrify us, because they defy all reason. And because we are human.

We feel pain for the victims and their loved ones. And we realize there is simply no answer to our question of why. What happened was such an unjust and inhumane act. We can no more understand this than we can stop being humans.

All we can do is try to get through this – together.

How Public Records Can Improve Your Life

We’ve all heard of public records – documents that are filed by official agencies and made publicly available – but many people don’t know much about them. Public records can be very beneficial to all of us. They provide useful information regarding many aspects of everyday life.

You may wonder who decides whether or not records will be made available to the public. Certain types of information are declared to be publicly permissible by the government. Other information, such as anything that is private or personal, is kept completely confidential.

Happy Fourth of July, America!

Tomorrow is the 4th of July. People across the country will celebrate at barbecues, outings and parades. We’ll decorate our homes, thrill to exciting fireworks displays and fly our flags proudly.
