Family! Friends! Loved Ones! Sunday, August 7 is your day.
The first Sunday in August is American Family Day and National Friendship Day. This day was meant to be spent with the people you love.
American Family Day
The concept of American Family Day originated in Arizona. It began as a state holiday in 1978 and quickly spread throughout the country. While it’s not an official holiday yet, it’s still a great reason to throw a reunion, get together with the extended family or call long-distance relatives.
It began in 1935. Some people think it was created to help improve public morale and interpersonal relationships after World War I. Not much else is known about the origins of Friendship Day, but since then it is has become an internationally recognized event.
Our Shared Lives
Not every family is perfect. Not every friendship lasts. But we all have people we care about. People who mean everything to us. Who are always there for us through good times and bad. On Sunday, August 7, share some smiles with the people who make your world a better place to be.
