Living Longer: American Life Expectancy Increases

March 18th, 2011

It’s a scientific fact – we’re living longer. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Americans are now living an average of 78.2 years. That number rises annually.

We’re also improving our survival rate. In 2009 we lost fewer Americans to common conditions like heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Congratulations, we’re learning how to endure.

Longer Lives
Why does our life expectancy keep getting better? Scientists are studying that, but there are many reasons. We have better healthcare. We’re learning more about proper diet. We have more access to medicine and vaccines.

Everyone can take control over their own basic health. We’re encouraged to exercise more. It’s easier than ever to see how healthy, or unhealthy, food is before we buy. Even video games are encouraging fitness these days. With better healthcare and lifestyles, Americans are living longer than ever before.

More Time Means More Opportunity
So what do you want to do with your life? We all have our own “bucket” list. Things we hope to accomplish, places we’d like to see, people we plan to spend time with. More years means more time to focus on career, family, hobbies and personal goals.

There are so many possibilities.

At PeopleFinders, we believe one of the best things about living longer is having more time to spend with loved ones. And having more opportunities to reconnect with people from our past.
